ON SAINTS CYRIACUS AND COMPANIONS,

MARTYRS AT NICOMEDIA.

Commentary

Cyriacus, Martyr at Nicomedia (Saint)

Ten Companions, Martyrs at Nicomedia (Saints)

G. H.

In the most ancient transcript of the Martyrology of Jerome which we have hitherto used, after other Martyrs already reported these things are read: "At Nicomedia of Cyriacus with ten others." The same things are found in the ancient Fasti of the monasteries of Reichenau and Rheinau, likewise in Rabanus, Notker and Pseudo-Bede; with which cited, and with the consent of the ancient manuscripts indicated, these things are found in the present Roman Martyrology: "At Nicomedia of Saint Cyriacus and ten other Martyrs." Galesinius commemorates the same with this number of companions. Nor has more been permitted hitherto to be known concerning these Martyrs.
