ON THE HOLY MARTYRS POLYANTHUS, PHILO, AND CANDIDA

Commentary

Polyanthus, Martyr (St.) Candida, Martyr (St.) Philo, Martyr (St.)

From various sources.

The Martyrology of St. Jerome, January 7: "And in another place, of Polyanthus, Philo, Candida." There will perhaps be someone who, from the affinity of names, may conjecture that these are the same of whom the same Martyrology records on February 13: "And elsewhere, of Poliartus, Philoronus, Candidus." But many are celebrated in the Martyrologies who are called not only by similar, but by entirely the same names.
