St. Possessor and two companions, martyrs at Cirta (modern Constantine, Algeria) in Numidia, known from the Martyrology of St. Jerome. A brief notice distinguishing them from similarly named martyrs at Smyrna on January 9.

Commentary

Possessor, Martyr (S.) Two companions, Martyrs

The most ancient manuscript Martyrology of St. Jerome reads: "At Irta: of Possessor and two others." The Irish manuscript cited above reads: "Of Possessor and two others." They seem to be different from those we recorded on January 9, since those suffered at Smyrna, while these are recorded as having suffered at Irta -- or rather Cirta, a city of Numidia.
