Blessed Theodore, eleventh Bishop of Sens, served from roughly 356 to the end of the 4th century. He was buried in the church of Sts. Gervasius and Protasius at Sens alongside his immediate successors. Little else is recorded of his deeds. 4th century

Commentary

Theodore, Bishop of Sens in Gaul (Bl.)

Theodore is listed as the eleventh Bishop of the Church of Sens by Demochar, Jean Chenu, and Claude Robert. Saussay reports that he was inscribed in the register of the Blessed, in his catalogue of Saints and Blessed whose feast days he did not know, where he writes thus: "The Blessed Theodore and Sindinus, or Sidinius, Metropolitan Bishops of Sens in continuous succession, together with St. Ambrose, the immediate successor of the former, were honourably buried on account of the radiant merits of their holiness in the church of the Holy Martyrs Gervasius and Protasius at Sens. Concerning them, on the feast of St. Ambrose, September 3." The manuscript Florarium assigns the feast day of Theodore to the Ides of January The feast of Bl. Theodore. with these words: "St. Theodore, Bishop and Confessor of Sens." Demochar writes this concerning him: "Theodore was created in 356; he died in 394; he presided for 39 years." Chenu subscribes to this. His dates. But Claude Robert testifies that in a manuscript Chronicle he is referred to the year 405.
