Notice from Ferrarius.

This is another Saint whose not only age and deeds, but even his very fatherland are uncertain, unknown to all Martyrologists outside the Catalogues of Ferrarius, honored with no peculiar cult at Città di Castello, where his body is said to rest; certainly whose birthday is not noted in the tables of that church, the same Ferrarius testifies. In the General Catalogue he distinguishes the people of Città di Castello, from Pliny, so that some are Tiberini, others Metaurenses, concerning whom it is not worthwhile to treat at length here. To the former, today Città di Castello, pertains St. Illuminatus, whose manuscript Acts Ferrarius asserts he saw, who meanwhile in his whole eulogy produces scarcely two miracles, as appears from the following: Illuminatus, hermit, in the territory of Città di Castello, near Monte Albano, distant 4 miles from the city of Tifernum, led a harsh life in that solitude of the high mountain, imitating the norm of the Precursor, since he fed only on wild things. In which place a church once stood under his name; but it, with the neighboring village, being destroyed, while the body was being carried elsewhere, a girl, long agitated by an unclean spirit, as soon as she touched the sacred body, was immediately freed. A cleric also, broken in his whole body, when he had suffered that infirmity for ten years, being led by his grandfather to blessed Illuminatus, obtained health. Besides these few things, nothing has been found concerning this Saint.
