These seven Martyrs are thus rightly expressed by their names in the most ancient Epternach codex, which in others are somewhat deformed. For Diomedes, in the Lucca codex is Fromedi, in the Corbie Tromedi: in both, for Sisinnius, is read Sesini, which perhaps was the genuine name. More basely in the Corbie the name of Aurelianus is turned into Aurelianidis. Again both those codices differ from the Epternach in this, that they add only 36 anonymous companions, but in this we thought the reading of the Epternach preferable; in which, however, Diomedi is put for Diomedes. Besides the names noted in these codices, we read nothing anywhere of those holy Martyrs.
