Constant and uniform is the announcement of the Hieronymian codices, except the Most Ancient one, by which there are assigned to Alexandria the three above-titled Martyrs with the ten anonymous infants; for so the Lucca codices, the Corbie, and the Blume ones; while meanwhile the Epternach or Antwerp codex here inserts the three holy men of Portus or Rome, reading thus: At Alexandria, the birthday of Philip, Zeno, Sisinnius, Eutropius, Zosimus, Bonosa, and the ten infants; where it is clear enough that those three, Eutropius, Zosimus for Zosima, and Bonosa, have been transposed; and that for Naseus, otherwise Narsæus, Sisinnius, not marked in the other codices, has been intruded. To what extent the whole announcement is Adonian, and by what means it passed into Usuard, and thence into almost all the codices even to the present Roman one, I have explained sufficiently in the Observations on that Martyrology; besides which nothing remains here to be added: which same is to be said almost of the following class of the Carthaginian Martyrs.
