Four ancient copies of the Hieronymian Martyrology open this 18th of June

with these words: On the 14th of the Kalends of July, In Africa, of Marcia, of Aemilius or Emelius, of Felix. But, with Marcia omitted, more often the other two are brought forward. So the manuscripts of Reichenau and Rheinau: In Africa, of Aemilius and Felix. The Aachen manuscript: In Africa, of Emelius and Felix. The Florentine manuscript of the Conventuals of Saint Francis: likewise in Africa, of Saints Amelia and Felix. By others Saints Marcus and Marcellianus are added, of whom we treat separately, and they are assigned to Rome. The Florentine manuscripts of the Medicean Library and of the Strozzi Museum: At Rome, of Saints Felix and Aemilius. In the Brussels manuscript of Saint Gudula they are written thus: In Africa, the birthday of Saints Hermelius and Felix. But with the place of contest omitted, in the manuscripts of Augsburg, Gellone, Labbe, and Saint Gall, the memory of Emelius and Felix is celebrated. Nor do any more particulars about these Martyrs occur.
