The company of ten Martyrs is recorded thus in our very ancient codex of Saint Jerome: "In Syria, of Paul, Cyrillus, Eugenius, Serapion, Tigrinus, Claudius, Exuperius, Victoricus, Valentinus, Domnus." The last, Domnus, is absent in the Luccan and Blumian copies, and the remaining nine are named, but in place of Valentinus is Valentius in the Blumian and Valentianus in the Luccan; in the latter also Exupericus appears instead of Exuperius. But Domnus is also printed at Paris with the other nine in the same Martyrology of Saint Jerome -- though with another error, whether typographical or perhaps of copyists: Victurinus and Victuricus are read in place of Valentinus and Victuricus or Victoricus. In the Reichenau Martyrology, with Tigrinus excluded, the remaining nine are contained as we have expressed in the title; but only the names of these eight are expressed in the manuscript of Labbe: Paul, Cyrillus, Eugenius, Serapion, Claudius, Victuricus, Domnus, Valentinus. In the Augsburg manuscript of Saint Ulrich, Eugenia and Dionius are read in place of Eugenius and Domnus. In these, Tigrinus and Exuperius are absent. In Notker these are read: "In Syria, of Paul, Cyrillus, Eugenius, Serapion, Victoricus, and others" -- namely five. In the manuscript of Rhinow only the first four are reported. In the manuscripts of Cassino and Altaemps the names of Paul, Cyrillus, Claudius, and Valentinus are expressed. In the Barberini codex, in place of Claudius, Exuperius is read. Usuard expressed these: "In Syria, the Saints Paul, Cyrillus, Eugenius, with four others." The same is found in various manuscripts and in today's Roman Martyrology -- but not without errors: in place of Paul and Cyrillus, the manuscript of the Cologne Carmel reads Peter and Titillus. The Trier manuscript of Saint Paulinus has Paul and Cyrillus with five others. But the manuscript of the Queen of Sweden has "with nine others." To the said two, Valentinus is added in the Cologne manuscript of Saint Mary ad Gradus. Separately in some manuscripts individuals are listed: either Paul as the leader of the others, or Claudius, or Serapion, or Eugenius, or Valentinus. "Maturis" is also added, but perhaps "Martyrum" should be read. In the manuscript of Tamlacht they are recorded under March 21: Paul, Quirillus, Eugenius, Tigernus, Claudius, Exuperius, Victricius, Valentinus, Domnus.
