In the fourth place these holy Martyrs

set forth the ancient copies of the Hieronymian

Martyrology, and with these

words almost: "In Sardinia of Salutianus,

Eutricus the Bishop, Crescentinus,

Ticianus, Quintus, Sciabilus."

The same has the old codex

of the Queen of Sweden, and from it Holstenius

in his Animadversions to the Roman Martyrology. In place of

Salucianus is also written Salutianus and Salustianus, and for

Eutricus is held in the Epternac one Eutropius: but he perhaps on the occasion

of S. Eutropius, Bishop of Orange, of whom below, is

there thus inserted. In the same Epternac one is then placed the word

"elsewhere," which in the other copies and codex of the Queen of Sweden is missing.

In place of Crescentinus and Ticianus is also written Criscentinus

and Titianus or Tychianus: and for Sciabilus, also

Stiabilus and Stabulus, who is missing in the said Epternac.

In the Mss. Casino and Roman of Duke Altempsius these

are had: "In Sardinia SS. Eutricus the Bishop, Crescentius,

Martianus." But this seems to be Martialis among the Martyrs

at Tomi referred above. With place of contest omitted Eutricus

the Bishop is in the Mss. Barberini, and Trier of S. Maximinus.

In the Augsburg Ms. of S. Ulrich are indicated the names

of Salvatianus, Eutricus, Quintus, Stabilus. The same are in

the Paris Ms. of Labbé, but the first name is more correctly written

Salutianus or Salustianus from the Aachen Ms.

Quintus is referred in the Auctary of Greven, and in Galesinius,

but mixed with others, as above is indicated. In the Calendar

of a most ancient Ms. Breviary, whose use was for the parts

of the Rhine, is also the memory of S. Salustianus the Martyr.
