PASSED OVER AND DEFERRED TO OTHER DAYS.

St. Leucius, bishop and confessor, entered in the Ms. Additions of the Charterhouse of Brussels, was rightly referred by Bollandus to 11 January.

The translation of St. Eucharius is in the Additions of the Charterhouse of Brussels to Greven. Treatment has been given of him on 20 February.

"At Prague in Bohemia, of St. Agnes, virgin," is the announcement of Greven, in which manner our Ms. Florarium also speaks; but treatment of that Saint was long since given at 6 March.

St. Probus, bishop of Rieti, I know not why is inserted on this day in Whitford's English Martyrology. He is venerated, and treatment has been given of him, on 15 March.

The translation of St. Waldetrude is marked on this day in more than one Usuardine codex, also in the Ms. Florarium of the Saints, in the general Catalogue of Ferrarius, and in Wion and Menard. You will find everything explained at her natal day, 9 April.

St. Leonides, father of Origen, was wrongly marked on this day by Maurolycus. He is venerated, and treatment of him was long since given, on 22 April.

St. John Cassian Bollandus found wrongly entered on this day. He belongs to the day on which treatment of him has already been given, 23 July.

St. Ethelwold is marked in the codex of Altemps, of whom treatment has been given on 1 August.

Why Ferrarius entered St. Artemia on this day in the general Catalogue I plainly do not know; treatment of her has been given sufficiently on 8 August.

St. Agilberta is entered on this day by Molanus; she belongs to the preceding day, 11 August.

"Sixtus and Hilary" is an obscure addition of the Charterhouse of Brussels to Greven, where they are also called martyrs. Whether and where they belong it has not yet been possible to find.

Lambert, bishop of Canterbury, is placed among the Saints in the Usuardine codex of Altemps: but that title is not given him even by the English, as may be seen in Anglia sacra among the obituary days of the Archbishops of Canterbury, where he is simply called of good memory.

The memory of St. Aggelus is found on this day in our Ms. Arabic-Egyptian Martyrology. But of what kind that Saint is, or where he belongs, who could determine from the name alone?

"St. Enoch, patriarch of Jerusalem, companion and colleague of St. Angelus the Carmelite, died most holily about the year MCCXXVII. They attribute to him the title of sanctity, etc." So it is read on this day in the Acies bene ordinata of the Carmelite Fathers by Philip the Visitandine.

Segene, or Segeneus, abbot of Iona, was entered among the Passed Over on the day on which he is marked by Dempster and Camerarius, 7 April, for the reasons alleged there, which still stand today, however much Colgan, at the Life of St. Columba, note 30, page 374, tries to claim the title of Saint for him, referring him to this day, as if all were Saints who are commemorated, or at least praised, in that Life.

Cecilia Giovannelli Castelli, as the maternal aunt of Innocent XI, was referred hither among the Passed Over on 20 June, in case she should be beatified. But nothing has become known so far.

Ilduin, bishop, is placed by name alone by Vincenzo Barrali in the Chronology of Lérins among the Saints in the order of the months on this day, being plainly omitted in the alphabetical order, so that he leaves it to be divined what he means. If some information is added, treatment of him will be given elsewhere.

Some information about Noting, bishop of Constance, was long ago sent here, with a brief Compendium of his Life, in which he is honoured with the appellation of Blessed, and several singular virtues of his are enumerated; nor is a fame of miracles lacking. But that is wanting which is the principal thing in this matter, that we be made more certain about a lawful cult ever shown to him.

A certain Brice Dempster places on this day at Chauria or Canouria, who, Prior at Lesmahagow, proclaimed bishop of Moray, lived most holily. Other authority is needed for him to be numbered among the Saints in this work, which was already wanted on 22 February also among the omitted.

Felix and Felicissimus, marked on this day by Castellanus alone as venerated at Vernotum not far from Melun, are to be passed over here, until at least some information is added.

Fr. William Guillacoine is praised on this day by Marchese in the sacred Dominican Diarium as a servant of God, and as having suffered martyrdom in Ireland at the hands of the Calvinists.

Mencia Pereira, widow, nun, in Portugal, is called Blessed in the French Dominican Year, in the German Viridarium and in the Belgian Annus sanctus.

Alphonsus Gerces is added in the last two.

Isabel Ferreyra in the French Year.

Udevolta, virgin, nun, on the Mount of St. Walburga near Cologne, is entered in the Cistercian Kalendar, wonderfully praised by Henriquez and Chalemot on this day, but not in the table of the Saints of the Order, nor do certain indications of her cult occur.

The finding of Teresa, queen, nun, is marked by both writers.

And likewise the elevation of more than nine hundred holy monks at Clairvaux.

Eberhard, abbot, confessor, is added to those already mentioned by Bucelinus, who pronounces him Blessed: I should wish to be informed from elsewhere about a constant and lawful cult.

Bartholomew of Apona, confessor, at Perugia; an Anonymous confessor at Genoa; Michael the Cantor, confessor, at Poznań; John a Via, confessor, at Palma in the Canaries; Maria of Portocarrero, virgin, at Palma in the territory of Córdoba: these are honoured with the title of Blessed by Arthur in the Franciscan Martyrology, and the last also in the Gynaeceum.

To these Hueber in his Menologium joins several of the Order slain by the Turks in the year 1532. Likewise at Naples Francis, a Frenchman by nation.

Then at Vienna Maria Augusta, daughter of Charles V, wife of Maximilian II, a Tertiary.

St. Wibert, otherwise Wigbert, is marked on this day in the Lübeck-Cologne edition, in Greven and in others: he belongs to the following day, 13 August.

St. Concordia is inserted in the quite disorderly Miscellanies, that is, the already more than once cited Ms. Additions of the Charterhouse of Brussels to Greven. Treatment of her was given among the Passed Over on 22 February, where she was also rightly referred to the day on which she is venerated with St. Hippolytus, namely the following, 13 August.

St. Clare of Montefalco does not belong to this day, as Maurolycus wrongly entered her, but to 18 August.

St. Berthelm at Stafford in England Ferrarius entered on this day from Wilson in the general Catalogue, who is known neither in Dempster nor in Camerarius: Bollandus referred him to 9 September.

St. Syndulph Bollandus found in some Benedictine Kalendar: in most Usuardine auctaria he is better entered on 20 October.

The commemoration of St. Ursula and her companions is repeated more than once by Greven and other Cologne writers; treatment of them will be given on the day on which their solemnity is kept by the Church, 21 October.

In the Hieronymian codices on this day, with the names somewhat corrupted, Chrysanthus, Daria and companions, martyrs, are announced; but treatment of them will have to be given by us on the day on which they are marked by others and celebrated by the Church, 25 October.

"St. Modesta, virgin, abbess. This most holy virgin was the sister of St. Willibrord. She is held celebrated in the territory of Trier." These are the words of Camerarius on this day: but the saint herself is venerated among the people of Trier on 4 November.

St. Verena or Veneria recurs again on this day among the Ms. Additions of the Charterhouse of Brussels to Greven, and indeed among the Hieronymian codices a similar name occurs. In our Work treatment has already been given of her or of one of the same name on 26 June among the Passed Over, and again in the usual Catalogue on 26 and 28 July, where we judged it altogether probable that this Verena is to be confused with Parasceve, who, since she has a proper place in the Roman Martyrology, the whole matter was referred for examination, and is here too referred, to 14 November.

The translation of Edmund, martyr, is noted on this day in the Ms. Additions of the Charterhouse of Brussels to Greven; others mark other days, of which treatment will be possible on the natal day itself, 20 November.

Bl. Woyslava of Bohemia, sister of Bl. Hroznata, is placed by Cruger on this day; treatment of her will be given with Balbinus on 22 November.

St. Phalitrus (in French St. Phalier), hermit, confessor, although he is not in the older Martyrologies, is nevertheless venerated with a solemn proper office both on this day and on 23 November at Carobria (Chabris) in the territory of Bourges, as Saussay notes. But since the latter day is the natal day, we defer the illustration of his deeds to 23 November.

Of the translation of St. Trudo treatment is given in the Additions of the Charterhouse of Brussels. His feast recurs on 23 November.
