At Gandara of Syria, in the text of Florentinius, Fortunatus is reported in the first place, as also in the Corbie one and in that of the Queen of Sweden, for whom we have already said that the Epternach one wrongly substituted Demetrius. Further, the same text repeats: At Venbera of Syria, the birthday of the holy Eusebius, Titulus, Conditor, and Prospolinus; of whom the last will be referred below to another class, so that only the four noted above seem to pertain hither; and not also three others who in the Corbie one alone are thus announced: At Venderasirum, for Vendera of Syria, the birthday of Sts. Eusebius, Siculus (for Titulus), Conditor, Prospolamus, Castus, Candidus. What Gandara, Venbera, or Vendera of Syria means, the praised Florentinius sought in vain among the Geographers, nor does it please us to lose labor, so that with Notker we may more safely read In Syria; certainly not At Aquileia, where Eusebius and Vincentius in a certain codex are wrongly joined with Felix and Fortunatus.
