Gertrud van Oosten (d. 1358), a Beguine of Delft in Holland who received the stigmata of Christ on Good Friday 1340. Born to peasant parents at Voorburg, she served as a maidservant before entering the Beguinage; her surname derives from the Dutch hymn 'Het daghet in den Oosten' ('The day dawns in the East') which she frequently sang. Her life was preserved in a manuscript from the Church of St. Martin in Utrecht.
