This class of Martyrs is proposed in the third place in the copies of the Hieronymian Martyrology, nearly everywhere with these words: In Africa the natal day of SS. Victus, Maurella, Quintus, Primulus, Salustius, Fortunatus, Mirella, Primus. In the Corbeian copy printed at Paris the name of Victus is omitted. In the Epternacensian is Primulus, in the Blumianus Primolus: and in place of Mirella in the said Epternacensian is Marcella, in the Corbeian Nirilla. In the Blumianus is added the name Eutus, perhaps transferred hither from Polyeuctus to be referred to in the following class. The first six are also referred in the Mss. Vatican of S. Peter, Casinensian, Altempsian, Liège of S. Lambert, and the Auctarium of Greven to Usuard: likewise in the Mss. Barberinian and Trier of S. Maximinus: but in the second place is Marcella, in others Maurella. In the Ms. of Prague the place of contest Africa is omitted, and the first is called Vinctus. In the Ms. of Queen of Sweden cited by Holstenius these things are written: In Africa the natal day of SS. Victus, Marcella, Quintus, with five others: whom indeed we give by their names. In the Ms. Richenoviensian these are: In Africa the natal day of Victus, Maurella. The name of Victus is also in the Ms. Cologne of S. Mary ad Gradus. In the ancient Casinensian Ms. on the XXIII day of May, SS. Victus and Quintinus Martyrs are venerated, perhaps the latter here called Quintus.
