The Greek Synaxary written by hand, which at Dijon with Father François Chifflet of the Society of Jesus we found, this Holy Martyr thus presents to us. Τῇ ἀυτῇ ἡμέρα (namely μηνὸς Μαΐου Κ Α᾽) μνήμη τῆς ἁγίας Εὐτροπίας. The eulogy from the Chifflet Ms. Ἁὑτὴ ὐπῆρχεν ἐπὶ Ἀπελλιανοῦ Ἄρχοντος, καὶ κατασχεθεῖσα ὑπ᾽ αυτοῦ ἐν Ἀλεξανδρείᾳ, καὶ τὸν χριστὸν ὁμολογήσασα, διεβεβάιου τῷ τυράννῳ ὧς οὐ πεισθήσεται ἀυτῷ Ὅθεν κρεμασθεῖσα τὰς πλευρὰς ξέεται· καὶ λαμπᾶσι πυρὸς φλογισθεῖσα, καὶ τῷ τυράννῳ εἰποῦσα, Λίαν ἐστὶ ψυχρὸν τὸ παρά σου πῦρ, ἐναποτίθεται τῇ εἵρκτῃ. Καὶ τῇ ἐξῆς παραστά̈σα, καὶ τὰ ἔιδωλα μυκτηρίσασα καὶ τὸν Ἄρχοντα, ἀπετμήθη τὴν κεφαλὴν· καὶ οὕτω τελέσασα τὸ μαρτύριον, ἀπῆλθε πρὸς τὸν ποθούμενον Κύριον.

Which thus in Latin you will render: On the same day XXV of May, the Memory of S. Eutropia. She was under the President Apellianus, and seized by him in the city of Alexandria, confessed Christ, affirming to the tyrant that he could not be persuaded by him to make her deny Him. Wherefore he ordered her to be hung up, and her sides to be scraped: but when also with the fiery flames of lamps she had been scorched, and had said to the tyrant: Very cold is your fire, she was cast into prison: but on the following day to the tribunal brought back, when the idols and the President himself she derided, she was beheaded: and so completing her Martyrdom, to the desired Lord she migrated.

The already indicated Greek Ms. Synaxary also this Martyr suggests to us, but in these fewer words. Ὁ ἅγιος Μάρτυς Κελεστῖνος, σιδήρῳ τὰς πτέρνας περιπαρεὶς, τελιοῦται. Holy Martyr Celestinus, pierced through with iron spurs, ended his life. Which in the subjoined distich is thus explained:

Πτέρνας σιδήροις ἐμπαρεὶσ Κελεστῖνος, Τὸν πτερνοτήρην συντρίβει πατῶν ὄφιν.

Pierced through the heels with iron Celestinus, Trampling crushed the serpent intent upon his heels.
