Faciolus

ON ST. FACIOLUS,

VENERATED IN THE PROVINCE OF LE MANS AND OF POITIERS.

From Castellanus.

Faciolus, venerated in the province of Le Mans and of Poitiers (S.)

J. S.

Castellanus in the Universal Martyrology reckons among the Saints of Gaul in the first place Faciolus, writing thus of him in French, as I render his words into Latin: On the same day, of St. Faciolus (in French Facile), who is venerated as a martyr at Luciacum in the province of Le Mans, and is there patron; as a confessor he is venerated in a certain priory of the province of Poitiers, where he is named (in French) S. Faziou. One might doubt whether they are not different Saints: but I have no monuments by which I could safely add anything to the aforesaid.
