His memory in the Calendars. Artemidorus also the Greek Calendars announce as a martyr, without place and time. The Menæa at the VIII of September have thus: Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ ὁ ἅγιος Αρτεμίδωρος πυρὶ τελειοῦται. On the same day saint Artemidorus is consummated by fire. Two little verses follow:

> Ἀρτεμίδωρος ὡς καθάλλεται σθένοι, > Καὶ τοῦ πυρὸς φλέγοντος ἔργω [\*] δεικνύει. > > Artemidorus leaps down as though by force, > And shows it by the deeds of the burning fire.

Each little verse is plainly frigid, so that it is hardly understood what the poet means. From the Menæa Galesinius records Artemidorus on the same day in these words: Likewise of saint Artemidorus the martyr. He in

being cast into the flame, gave a splendid testimony of his admirable piety and faith. The Sirletian Menology at the IX of September has these few words of him: On the same day saint Artemidorus was consummated by fire. On which of the two days he is more rightly placed I am wholly ignorant; but I refer the Saint to this day, because Baronius fixed on this day others recorded by the Greeks with the same difference of day, though he passed over Artemidorus.
