This second class of Martyrs of uncertain place is so found in all the codices, that nevertheless the names are here and there dislocated by the fault of the copyists; as Archanareus for Arcaneus; Jacentus for Hyacinthus, etc. Other minutiæ of this kind occur, whether in a changed sex, or in a name added, transposed, or subtracted, in which Florentini busies himself somewhat more scrupulously on this day; we have reviewed the Saints in the number and order in which our Elders did, distinguishing two other lesser classes from this greater one; which nowhere else will you find so disposed. Further, we have judged that Felicissimus should be omitted here, since the same has already recurred more than once above.

I do not trouble myself about the name, whether she who is here set first be called Euticia or Eutilia. But Mary the virgin of God is so most clearly expressed in the text of Florentini, where he observes that a virgin consecrated to God is doubtless understood. Elsewhere, he says, we have already shown that even in the first centuries of the Church there were convents of consecrated virgins. The six anonymous ones who follow, crowned on one day, are called innocents, either because they were infants or because they were the virgin's companions. Neither he nor we have been able to find any other light. Just as much may you say of the following and last class of this day.
